And the Winners are…
While Festival do Rio is essentially a celebration of the audiovisual arts, the festival does have a number of competitive elements, most notably Première Brasil for which various festival juries will select the winners of the Redentor Trophy.
Trophies will be awarded within Première Brasil for best fiction, best documentary, best short, best director, best actor, best actress, best supporting actor, best supporting actress, best screenplay, best cinematography and best editing. There will also be a number of special jury prizes.
The audience of Première Brasil also gests to choose its favourites with popular audience prizes for best fiction, best documentary and best short.
In addition to the awards for the films and shorts that screen in the competitive section of Première Brasil, Festival do Rio also gives an award for the best film to screen in the Première Brasil: New Trends section.
The FIPRESCI jury (International Federation of Film Critics) will award its prize to the best Latin American film at the festival.
