Detective Anna Mani is involved in the investigation of a serial rapist and killer. She travels to Florence and receives a tip that the suspect is in the Uffizi Gallery. When she arrives, however, Anna is stricken with the Stendhal Syndrome, which causes it victims to have blackouts and hallucinations when they come in contact with the beauty of certain works of art. Reeling from temporary amnesia, she is aided by a young man named Alfredo. In his clutches, the detective slips into her worst nightmare.
