Simon Hirsch is a fifty-plus salesman who is bored with life. On the verge of depression, the only person he trusts is his new friend, the young police officer Mickey. But their friendship is interrupted when Mickey is shot. Simon decides to take over the investigations and find the killer. His search takes him to Marx, a man who covers his debts by working as a hitman. But Marx can never actually pull the trigger and leaves the dirty work to Johnny, his mentally disturbed brother. Winner of three César Awards, including Best First Film 1995.
Director
Born in 1952 in Paris. Studied Philosophy at the Sorbonne. Among his films: A Self-Made Hero (1996), Best Screenplay, Cannes Film Festival, and Read My Lips (2001). Twice he has taken home Césars for Best Film and Best Director, with The Beat That My Heart Skipped (2005) and The Prophet (2009), which also won the Grand Jury Prize, Cannes and an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Language Film.
