/ Press photosWith a career logging over 70 years as cinematographer, Jack Cardiff worked with filmmakers like John Huston, Alfred Hitchcock, King Vidor and the pair Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger. He filmed actors like Marilyn Monroe, Sophia Loren and Humphrey Bogart, among others. A pioneer in Technicolor, he won an Oscar for Narciso Negro (1947) and received another for his lifework, in 2001. Statements from Cardiff himself, who died in 2009, and admirers like Martin Scorsese, Kirk Douglas and Lauren Bacall give a profile of the technician central to British film magic.
